Analysis of China’s tea exports from January to May 2022

According to China Customs data, in May 2022, China's tea export volume was 29,800 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 5.83%, the export value was US$162 million, a year-on-year decrease of 20.04%, and the average export price was US$5.44/kg, a year-on-year decrease of 15.09%.


As of May, the cumulative export volume of Chinese tea in 2022 was 152,100 tons, a year-on-year increase of 12.08%, and the cumulative export value was US$827 million, a year-on-year increase of 4.97%.

The average export price from January to May was US$5.43/kg, which was higher than the same period last year. A decrease of 6.34%.

From January to May 2022, the export volume of green tea in China was 129,200 tons, accounting for 85.0% of the total export volume, an increase of 14,800 tons and a year-on-year increase of 12.9%;
the export volume of black tea was 11,800 tons, accounting for 7.8% of the total export volume. %, an increase of 1246 tons, an increase of 11.8%;
the export volume of oolong tea was 7707 tons, accounting for 5.1% of the total export volume, an increase of 299 tons, an increase of 4.0%;
the export volume of flower tea was 2389 tons, accounting for 1.6% of the total export volume, An increase of 220 tons, an increase of 10.1%;
the export volume of Pu'er tea was 885 tons, accounting for 0.6% of the total export volume;
the export volume of dark tea was 111 tons, accounting for 0.1% of the total export volume.
